Our Practice

We may all be faced with challenges at some point in our lives.

Having spent almost a decade working as a Counselling Psychologist in private, public and school settings, Shantal Lourie (Shanty), has supported a wide range of individuals, each experiencing their own unique set of challenges, mental health or wellbeing concerns.

Through her work Shanty has also seen the immense strength, resilience, and growth that can occur in response to life’s challenges, further fuelling her passion to support others to tap into and enhance their own personal resources when needed.

Shanty formed Cope Psychology along with her partner, Kevin Cope, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic to provide individuals with a space to improve their mental health, enhance their wellbeing and most importantly, cope during a difficult and uncertain time.

Cope Psychology is quickly becoming known as a quality and dedicated Psychology Private Practice that will go above and beyond to provide its clients with the life-long tools required to cope with any challenging experience.

Couples Therapy

Individuals may engage in counselling at any age for social and emotional, wellbeing or mental health care. This may involve support for managing strong or complex emotions, coping with recent or historic life-stressors, adjusting unhelpful thinking styles or behaviours, working through traumatic events, improving social interactions and relationships as well as building one's personal resources to improve their overall wellbeing.

Perinatal support is available for all couples and individuals who are trying to conceive, undergoing or considering fertility treatment, are currently pregnant or recent parents. Support may involve coping with pregnancy, childbirth, loss and parenthood fears or difficulties. Support may also include managing changes in mood, appearance, physical and emotional functioning that can occur during this time.

Couples may benefit from engaging in counselling to work through any obstacles that may be having an impact on their relationship and personal wellbeing. This can involve conflict resolution, communication strategies, recognition and reconstruction of unhelpful patterns, emotional regulation and problem solving techniques.
